Showcase May 18, 2010
The Fifth Annual Generation E Student Business Showcase in Battle Creek, Michigan is an event designed to celebrate student successes. The criteria for participation in the Showcase is an educator-approved business plan and a feasible business. The format for the Showcase includes: nationally known guest speakers, workshops, the opportunity to display/sell products/services, presentations to judges, and awards. At the conclusion of the event the judges select award winners (in various categories) and the students receive their awards. During the Battle Creek 2009 Showcase, students received a total of $6,300 in cash prizes.
Community involvement is essential to the success of a Showcase. During the training and mentoring process, educators are introduced and instructed as to how to develop their community resources and networking. The volunteers who help in the classroom are the same volunteers who help with a Showcase. They are also instrumental in the fund-raising needed to financially support a Showcase.
