The Generation E Institute (GenEI) is a non-profit organization based in Battle Creek, Michigan that offers youth entrepreneurial education programs and consulting services to schools and community-based organizations.
We have certified over 220 educators in·22 counties in Michigan and in several other states. Our curricula are well known for·being project driven,·using·hands-on, and highly participatory instruction methods. Since all of·the students actually start their own businesses as a requirement for completing our courses, GenEI provides an excellent foundation for middle and high school age students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career pathway.·GenEI entrepreneurship education provides the foundation for a pipeline to post-secondary education and certification.· Throughout the curricula, youth see the relevance of core subjects.· Competencies in those skill sets are necessary for their businesses and the success of their business ventures.·As they proceed with their chosen career pathway, they see entrepreneurship education as a tool to their success in the world of work.
GenEI also recognizes the fact that youth entrepreneurship education programs need high levels of community support to remain effective in the long term. Examples of how we build that assistance include: ·facilitating regional showcases in which students display their businesses, starting revolving loan funds that students can use for business start-up money, and offering meaningful internship opportunities between entrepreneurs and our students.
Mission Statement
We create the entrepreneurial mindset in individuals through the development and delivery of innovative curricula and programs so they may compete in an ever-changing economy.
